After being thoroughly mesmerised by the film adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express, I felt compelled to read the book. This recent movie adaptation directed by and starring Kenneth Branagh, was a most pleasurable experience. My review:Ī rare trip to the movies for my husband and I, without our children, resulted in a spur of the moment decision to watch Murder on the Orient Express. Isolated and with a killer in their midst, detective Hercule Poirot must identify the murderer – in case he or she decides to strike again. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed a dozen times, his door locked from the inside. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of the year, but by the morning it is one passenger fewer. Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks. I can now safely say this is my favourite Agatha Christie novel, but I do hope to explore more work from her extensive collection.
